Out of the Mouths: Light Saber

Our basement is mostly finished, but there is an unfinished area we use for storage. It also has the heater, water softener, etc, and we installed a slide lock at the top so the kids wouldn’t go in there. Around Christmas and birthdays, it’s also been a convenient place to store presents.

Noah’s birthday party was the day before his birthday. We saved the gifts from us for his actual birthday. When I said something about getting his presents so he could open them, he said, “Mommy, I know where my presents are. They’re in that locked room in the basement. You know, I can unlock that lock with my light saber, but I would never do that.”

He claims that he saw it unlocked once and that he only knows that he could use the light saber because he locked it for us. He seemed genuinely surprised when we gave him his presents, so I’m inclined to believe that he had not seen them. He was very excited and said, “Mommy, I am so thankful!”

Still, I’m pretty sure it’s time to find a new hiding place.

  1. Sneaky little devils they are. If yo uhave a neighbor that you are good friends with, store the gifts there. Then there is no way they’d find your hiding place.
