I swore I would never drive a minivan, so I went through a bit of an identity crisis when we finally broke down and bought one. Eventually, I decided to get over myself, and fully embrace my life as a minivan-driving Mommy Blogger. Since my family rocks, and my family and the minivan are a package deal, I am hereby declaring that My Minivan Rocks!
This blog is about so much more than my minivan; It’s about the three beautiful kids who fill the carseats in my minivan. Right now they are five, four, and three.
Christian and I were married in May 2003. After fertility treatments, our son Noah was born to us in January 2006. Our daughter Zoe was born in November 2006 in Phu Tho, Vietnam, and came home when she was four-months-old. Colin is our baby boy. He was born in July 2008 with special needs and came home when he was two-days-old through domestic adoption.
We never planned to have our children THIS close together (we are probably the only people on the planet who can say they had two adoptions happen more quickly than expected), but we are enjoying our crazy life!
This is a family blog, but it is also a blog about adoption. These are what I consider some of my most important adoption posts:
Things people ask about adoption
Why we are moving (an open letter on diversity)
What no one told me about adoption
Why people don’t share their negative experiences with adoption agencies
DNA testing for race and ancestry-Colin
DNA testing for race and ancetry-Zoe
Evolving opinions on open adoption
Corruption in Vietnam adoptions
Searching for Zoe’s birth family
Thoughts on the search for Zoe’s birth parents
Videos on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
Things to consider before the adoption of a special needs or drug/alcohol-exposed child
Hi! I used to read your Blogger blog way back when you were traveling for Zoe and as our own adoption got underway, I lost track of you. Glad to see things are going well for your family and I hope you don’t mind if I start following along again!
what a wonderful family! I love the pictures and stories, too!!
You don’t drive a minivan…it’s a luxury limo for your kids…My teens call it a loser cruiser…I insist its a luxury limo. Happy driving…Happy kids!
