• About:

I swore I would never drive a minivan, so I went through a bit of an identity crisis when we finally broke down and bought one. But now I've decided to get over myself, and fully embrace my life as a suburban, minivan-driving, Mommy Blogger. Since my family rocks, and my family and the minivan are a package deal, I am hereby declaring that My Minivan Rocks!

This blog is about so much more than my minivan; It's about the three beautiful kids who fill the carseats in my minivan. Christian and I were married in May 2003. After fertility treatments, our son Noah was born to us in January 2006. Our daughter Zoe was born in November 2006 in Phu Tho, Vietnam, and came home when she was four-months-old. Colin is our baby boy. He was born in July 2008 and came home when he was two-days-old through domestic adoption.

We never planned to have our children THIS close together (we are probably the only people on the planet who can say they had two adoptions happen more quickly than expected), but we are enjoying our crazy new life!

A Day Out With Thomas – 2009 edition

Friday we went to see “A Day Out with Thomas.” We went with my mom, my cousin Shannon and her son Michael (5), and my niece and nephew, Sophia (5) and Will (7). We all went last year, too (except Colin of course, since he wasn’t born yet!), so it’s kind of fun to look back at the pictures from a year ago. Of course, I was once again the crazy camera lady, so this post is very photo heavy. It doesn’t seem like I have as many smiles in the photos from this year, but I think that’s just because it was so stinkin’ hot this year (95+ degrees), and not because the kids didn’t have fun.

We started out on the mini train:

Then we were off to the pony rides.

Zoe checked out the bounce house while the other kids went inside some sort of cave thing.

Colin was mostly just along for the ride. I’m sure he’ll have a lot more fun next year.

We saved the train ride for last, and the kids anxioulsy awaited Thomas’s arrival:

  1. Even though it was hot it looks like you guys had a great time.

  2. I am hoping Aiden is old enough to go next year.

    • Oh, he definitely will be. Zoe was 1 1/2 last year and she had a good time (not as much fun as she had this year, but still a good time). If you do go, remind me to tell you about our secret caboose train. It’s a longer ride for less money ($8 instead of $18), and all of the other activities are included. You don’t actually ride on Thomas, but you pass him twice, which I think the kids actually liked better.

  3. You take the best pictures and the kids look happy, sunburned and wore out, a good day.

  4. We hung with Thomas for the day last month but ours didn’t have a mini train, pony rides nor a petting zoo. Yours was way better, except for the heat. Glad everyone had a great time.

  5. [...] Sunday and it was an awesome, relaxing day. The weather was gorgeous (much cooler than our day with Thomas the Train) and the kids had a blast playing in the sprinkler, in our little inflatable pools, and on the [...]
