“Daddy, I’m not sure he’s going to catch that pass.”
“Daddy, I think he might drop it!”
“Oh no, Daddy, he did drop it!”
“That’s OK, we recovered and won anyway. Let’s celebrate! Milk for everyone!”

Colin had his four-month doctor visit last week. He is 25 inches long (25th-50th percentile) and 15 lbs, 10 oz (50th-75th percentile). The doctor said he looks terrific!
He eats five times a day (25-30 ounces total) and takes three naps. He is sleeping through the night now, which makes life wonderful. Seriously. It’s wonderful. Sometimes he fusses at [...]

Today was Zoe’s 2nd birthday. We had her party at Chuck E. Cheese’s yesterday. I thought we could have a nice little low-key party and I wouldn’t have to clean my house before and after. Sounds great, right? Well, it turns out Mr. Cheese is running a scam. Guess what crappy pizza, sodas, salad, and [...]

We got Noah and Zoe’s school pictures back this week. Last year I complained about how expensive the school photos were, but said, “I had to buy SOME since it is his FIRST school photo, and of course the photographer knows this. I bet the younger the child, the more dollar signs they see plastered across [...]

I had JUST posted that Noah wouldn’t wear his Thomas the Train costume on Halloween when he came out of the play room asking for help putting this on:
We’ve had this costume for a while. Noah’s cousin Michael gave it to him last spring when he outgrew it. Since Noah had become such a big [...]

Yes, Halloween was a while ago, but posting photos late seems to be a habit with me these days.
Noah was Thomas the Train. Well, Noah was Thomas the Train for about 30 seconds. Then he refused to wear the costume any more. Thank goodness I bought it on eBay. If I’d purchased it new it [...]

“The Lie We Love” is an article about corruption in international adoption that appeared in the November/ December 2008 issue of Foreign Policy Magazine. The article is re-printed in its entirety here. It’s long, but worth the read. It’s very well researched, and it discusses the problems inherent in the international adoption “business.” The story outlines many [...]

FROM CHRISTIAN:
It is truly amazing how many things that my parents said to me that have come back to me since having kids. This morning that wonderful phrase keeps going through my head as Noah keeps saying “Daddy?” and then I say “Yes?” and then he says “Daddy?” and I say “What?” and then he [...]

When I started doing Favorite Photo Friday a while back, my purpose was to incorporate old (and potentially embarrassing) photos of Christian, me, our friends, and family on the blog. Don’t get me wrong, I have many favorite photos of Noah, Zoe, and Colin, but we all know I would post those anyway.
The problem, however, [...]

Did you miss me? I know that you have been hitting your refresh buttons all day for the last 11 days anxiously awaiting my next post. Sorry to do that to you, my faithful readers. I promise to (try to) do better.
I may do separate posts on a few of these topics, but I thought [...]

When Noah first goes to bed, he talks to himself for a while. It’s really funny to listen to him on the monitor. He just babbles, sometimes for half an hour. Usually he talks about things that have happened recently:
“Toby and Ally were barking.”
“Mommy bought some orange cheese at the store.” (Orange is his favorite [...]
